The Best of Slovenia in One Journey

You have just one week in Slovenia — and you want to see as much of the country as possible.

This journey brings together the places that first-time visitors most often come to Slovenia to experience. You'll spend time on Lake Bled and the Adriatic Coast, explore Ljubljana with a local guide, visit Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle, discover the historic seaside town of Piran, and stay in Rogaška Slatina — one of Slovenia's best-known thermal spa resorts.

It is a classic Slovenia route for travelers who want to experience several completely different sides of the country in one trip, without rushing from place to place. Unlike journeys focused on a single region, this route connects Slovenia's alpine landscapes, historic towns, Adriatic coastline, thermal spa traditions and world-famous caves into one well-balanced trip.

You can also help shape part of the journey yourself. Choose between Olimje Monastery, one of Europe's oldest pharmacies and a deer farm visit, or a trip to Ptuj — Slovenia's oldest town — and Maribor, the country's wine capital and second-largest city. Prefer a different thermal resort? Rimske Terme, a secluded adults-only thermal retreat with Roman heritage, can be included instead of Rogaška Slatina.

Places You'll Visit

Ljubljana

One of Europe’s greenest capitals, Ljubljana blends a rich history with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Wander through its charming medieval streets, cross the famous Dragon Bridge, and discover the legends that made the dragon the symbol of the city. With its beautiful riverside setting, vibrant cultural life, and growing gastronomic scene, Ljubljana is often considered one of Europe’s most delightful hidden capitals.

Piran

Piran is a beautifully preserved historic town and one of the cultural treasures of the Slovenian coast. With its medieval architecture, narrow winding streets leading down to the main square, charming cafés, and Italian-inspired restaurants, it is widely considered one of the most photogenic and picturesque towns on the Adriatic Sea.

Lake Bled

Slovenia’s most iconic destination and one of the most photographed alpine lakes in Europe. Surrounded by mountains and crowned by a thousand-year-old castle perched high above the water, Lake Bled looks like something from a fairy tale. The charming lakeside town of Bled is a wonderful place to relax, stroll along the shoreline, and enjoy the beauty of the region in every season.

Postojna Cave

The most visited cave in Europe! A unique underground railway takes visitors deep into a spectacular world of vast chambers and winding passages filled with remarkable stalactites, stalagmites, and natural rock formations. Here you can also see the famous olm — a rare amphibian often called the “human fish” and surrounded by local legends that once linked it to dragons.

Predjama Castle

Built dramatically into the entrance of a towering cave, Predjama Castle is one of the most extraordinary medieval castles in the world. Its hidden tunnels, centuries-old legends, and remarkable cliffside setting tell stories of knights, sieges, and secret escapes. Walking through its chambers and passageways, you can step back in time and experience what life inside a medieval fortress may have felt like centuries ago.

Thermal Resorts

Spend time in either Rogaška Slatina or Rimske Terme, two of Slovenia’s most historic thermal spa destinations. Immerse yourself in centuries-old thermal traditions, unwind in mineral-rich waters, and experience a slower pace of life in surroundings designed for rest, well-being, and renewal.
